Ok, this sounds lame but i m going to write a theory about who is Eragon's REAL father.

My no. 1 suspect: Brom.
Angela said in Teirm that Brom "loved a woman, but it was his affection that was her undoing".
I suspect that it is Selena, because
Brom's fight with Morzan(whom he killed in the fight) was said to be "turned into a personal battle". They might be battling for Selena, Brom wanting to "free" her from Morzan.
Brom knew Selena very well, enough to "miss her when she was gone".
Brom killed Morzan, whom Selena "loved".
There is no proof that Murtagh is Eragon's FULL brother. Eragon might be like Murtagh in many ways, but their personalities are quite different.
Selena brought Eragon to Carvahall to protect him. But from WHAT???
1. From the abuse Murtagh endured when he was 3 2.(maybe) from the fact that the child she carries (Eragon) is not Morzan's son?
Brom liked Eragon very much(i know this does not explain much). He sacrificed himself so that Eragon could live.
Rebukes:
Brom did not tell Eragon a lot of things.
Selena ran away when the battle between Brom and Morzan occured.
Brom did not reveal himself as Eragon's father, which a normal father would have done right away when he sees his children.
